Waterloo Woodwork, part of The Colebridge Trust, is an emerging social firm in Solihull that enables people with disabilities or learning difficulties to gain work and basic life skills. Using the enterprise’s fully-equipped carpentry workshop and guided by experienced carpenters, trainees are supported in the manufacture of quality timber products for sale. This includes furniture and accessories for gardens and public spaces as well as larger bespoke items.
Sales help to support Waterloo Woodwork’s income as well creating a real enterprise environment offering challenging work. The enterprise employs two staff and turns over around £98,000 a year, earned from a client support contract and product sales.
Future business priorities: to increase the number of learning disabled clients supported from 10 to 15 and to double turnover from sales.
