Aquamacs Birmingham

Aquamacs Birmingham provides rental and maintenance services of fresh water, tropical and salt-water aquariums. It also provides employment and training opportunities for people with disabilities.

The business supplies high-quality aquariums - ranging from small installations suitable for offices, to large displays costing over £15,000 a year to hire - that create attractive focal points and offer therepeutic benefits to workplaces.

It also provides revolving aquariums and interactive displays that work in conjunction with aquariums, as well as an innovative ‘aquarium shifting’ service for people moving house, and a fish minding service for those off on holiday.

Tropical fishSet up in 2006, Aquamacs Birmingham is a franchise of the original Aquamacs social firm - a mutliple-award winning enterprise that was established in Cornwall by social entrepreneur Stuart MacKenzie in 2002.

It has been established by i'SE - the regional arm of Social Firms UK in the West Midlands - which aims to create and sustain employment opportunities for people with disabilities and other significant disadvantage.

i'SE pursues this remit through the development of new social enterprises and the capacity building of existing voluntary and community organisations to become effective businesses, delivering services to their community.
